France is introducing a mandatory online appointment system for all visa applications. This new requirement applies to all travelers, whether they are planning a short stay or a long-term visit. If you're heading to France, here's what you need to know.

The French government says the shift to online bookings is designed to streamline visa processing and enhance security controls. Even travelers holding a Schengen visa will need to follow the new procedure.

To check if a visa is required and view the list of necessary documents based on the visa type, applicants should use the Visa Wizard tool. This platform offers a step-by-step guide to help users through the process. Appointments must be booked online through the Démarches Simplifiées website, where applicants will also need to answer a few extra questions—such as the length and purpose of their stay.
