When and how did you decide to move to Jordan? Is it complicated to settle down there?

Have you ever lived abroad before? How many countries have you visited?

What do you like the most about Jordan/Amman?

Amman is an easy city to live in as expat. The munity is quite big and very diversified. West Amman where most expats live is small and convenient.

How is/was the cultural shock? What are the main differences with your home country?

Even if it is an easy city, it takes a little time to get used to Amman, mainly because it is not a city as we know it in Europe. Shops are scattered around the city, after 2 years I still discover places, shops are sometimes hidden in side streets and not always easy to access. The driving is also something one needs to get used to - let's say that the roundabouts don't exactly work the same way as in Europe :) and speed limits even in the centre of Amman are not always respected. I didn't feel a huge culture shock, the most annoying is that as a woman, men don't really listen to you or don't care what you say - and I haven't got used to that!

I think everyone who has visited us, has been surprised with Jordan - it comes mainly from the fact that nobody knows anything about Jordan and have all these set ideas about the region.

Do you miss anything from your homeland?

Any 'memories of an expat' you would like to share with us? Your best souvenir? Or maybe your worst experience?

When did you start your blog? For what reasons?

I started my blog when we knew we were moving to Amman. Finding information on living in Amman is difficult to get, so I decided to help others who are moving to Amman. It is also a good way to let family and friends know what we are up to.

Did you make new friends with your blog?

I have met some friends through my blog! Fellow expats who have contacted me before moving and that I have then met when they arrived to Amman. It's nice and rewarding as well. Also some virtual friends, fellow bloggers - mostly world citizens like myself.聽

and what do you think of the website?

As I have already said, finding info on Amman is not easy and Expat blog came up when I first started to do some research on Jordan. I registered straight away and read some of the blogs, still do when I am looking for information on other countries. It's a very website, full of useful information.

Which advice would you give to the other Expat blog members who would like to settle in Jordan?

Life in Amman is not cheap, especially if you are after the same luxuries as "back home" - imported food goods are very expensive. Get your money right to make sure you enjoy life fully here in Jordan. When you arrive don't be shy, it is important to meet people fast, it is one of the most important things when arriving in a new country, especially when the culture is different.聽
