This year, France and its literature will be showcased and honored at the 2022 Book Festival. Close to fifty authors, publishers or cartoonists and illustrators from France, Reunion Island and Mauritius will be participating in the events. The professional day, held at the French Institute of Mauritius in Rose-Hill, will kickstart this year's event on Thursday at 10 am. The curator will be the author John-Erich Nielsen. Scheduled: thematic round tables, conferences and meetings between authors, publishers and journalists. Some 25 speakers are expected to participate in this first day of activities. Future writers will have the opportunity to interact with the various guests. A sega-maloya concert will bring this first day to a close.
The next three days of the event will take place in the village of Trou d'Eau Douce. Are, among others, planned, a school day, a night of reading, book launches, workshops, conferences, plays and musical interludes.
Friday will be dedicated to a younger audience. Various workshops will be organized at the village's elementary school to introduce the youngest to literature. They will also be invited to literary caf茅s and visits to the various stands. The schools under the aegis of the Agency for the Teaching of French Abroad, namely the Lyc茅e des Mascareignes, the Ecole du Centre, the Lyc茅e Labourdonnais, the Ecole Paul et Virginie and the Ecole du Nord, will welcome guests throughout the day. The Goncourt Prize winner, Mohamed Mbougar Sarr, is expected at the Lyc茅e des Mascareignes at 10:30 am, along with Ananda Devi, Philippe Rey and Anne Sophie Stephanini.
This second edition of the Trou d'Eau Douce book festival will be officially launched at 17:30 by Mohamed Mbougar Sarr . The photobook 'Graces' by Umar Timol will also be launched for the occasion. A recital by the poet Yusuf Kadel is also scheduled to take place. The latter will also be launching his collection "Lavi Wilson Begue".
Saturday and Sunday will take place on the Trou d'Eau Douce beach and will be opened to the public. It will be two busy days. The bookstores Bookcourt, Le Tr猫fle, the International Press and Book Distributors Ltd and Papyrus and publishers Atelier des nomades, Immedia, Editions HOH, La librairie Mauricienne Num茅rique, Pamplemousses 茅ditions, Vizavi and Ter'l脿 from Reunion Island will be selling books. Signing sessions are also scheduled, as well as book launches.
The public will also be able to attend live radio programs co-hosted by Fran莽oise Degeorges, who is the host of聽 "Ocora, Couleurs du Monde" on France Musique and Miguel Hermelin and Finlay Salesse of Radio One. Activities and workshops will take place throughout the day for the youngest as well. The night of reading and theatrical and musical performances will be held from 18 hours at the beach of Trou d'Eau Douce. An event organized by 12 young authors and readers.
