That's why I wanted to share with you the option of participating in the cultural programs offered by different nation's institutions in Guatemala, which usually will be combined with interesting discussions or surroundings, more appealing than just going to the regular movie theathers, which in Guatemala I recommend always stick with CINEPOLIS network.
So, if you're looking for an interesting movie time I suggest checking the newspapers and web to see what's on during the week, specially in Antigua Guatemala, where you'll find good proposals every week in places like "El sitio" or "Centro de Formaci贸n de la Cooperaci贸n Espa帽ola". Again, you might want to check the language and subtitle issue before.
However, I will not focus in Antigua Guatemala but in Guatemala City to share some interesting places for all the cinema-lovers. First, CCE (Centro Cultural de Espa帽a) in zone 4 broadcast twice a week different movies according a previously chosen theme or subject, only that most of the time is strictly in spanish... But hey, this is a great chance for you to practice the language...
For the french expats, Alliance Francaise has a film program as well, sometimes on URL campus and sometimes in their headquarters offices in zone 13. In this case most of the films are in french and spanish subtitles.I suggest you to pay attention to the french film festival which is a wonderful opportunity to get to watch some of the french jewels ussually not available in this part of the world.
I could continue with other nation's institutions offering the chance of watching movies, however, I mentioned the two options that personally I enjoy constantly, but I recommed to keep yourself informed through the web and newspapers. Remember that the 95 % of these movies are free, you won't be required for any fee.
Free movies
As a movie fan, having the chance of watching all kinds of movies in the places I visit is a plus. Although, sometimes the language can be a problem if the movie doesn't have subtitles... However, if the new place I visit offers me the option of relaxing while enjoying a movie I'll be happy.
