Hello I am John here in the Dominican Republic. I have lived here the last six years, and have never taken a trip back to Canada. There are enough Canadians here, sometimes too many and I feel like I need to find another Caribbean island to try and get away !!! lol, just kidding. I own a hotel and ocean going charter service along the north coast. I am doing pretty well, but it has not been easy. I have lived through a wide range of experiences here. Some have been good and others not so good. My first year, I traveled all around the country spending money looking for my ideal location. I have enjoyed the luxurious side of life here (as unreal as that may sound) and have spent a great deal of time with the common people (good and bad). On the good side, I am still alive. On the bad side I have been robbed, run over by a drunk Dominican driver, hit by a mindless driver. That is the short list. But here I am settled into business and working life, facing reality in the DR. Yeah, I got my property, business, and backup generators and I hire the best security and employees in the DR !!!
