Just completed a novel, a thriller, based on actual facts involving Modern Spanish history, following one of America麓s worst aviation blunders, the so-called Palomares incident. Two nuclear bombs explode in an area near the Spanish coast causing plutonium dust to pollute hectares of farmland. The clean-up operation continues to this day. In the novel, events ensue that plunge the main character together with his Spanish girlfriend into the unstable world of 1970麓s Spain, ruled by the dictator Francisco Franco. He observes the lengths to which individuals and organisations go to promote their own nefarious ends. In 1981, weeks after a failed February coup d茅tat, some 600 people die in Madrid, a tragedy that, to this day, the World Health Organisation still refers to as The Toxic Oil Syndrome. Entitled, Call me Leonidas, this novel follows the young lovers, as they attempt to unveil the surprising twists of truth behind one of Europe?s best-kept cover-ups.
