Hangzhou, Zhejiang Sheng, China

Since Dec 2015

Hangzhou, Zhejiang Sheng, China

The frenetic life of a teacher who works in a school of hangzhou and 3 days every week travels to work in an Italian pizzeria in Wuhan, Hubei region, 800km far from Hangzhou.
Teacher at Hangzhou culinary arts school, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Pastry chef at salute pizza, in Wuhan, Hubei
The Life in Hangzhou is always surprising and never boring. I love my house paid by my school. It looks like a night club. Elegant, stylish and modern with a combination of colors of lights in the living room for "any situation" :)
I really dislike the way the Chinese don't respect traffic lights. In China you risk to die if you trust a pedestrian green light!!!

Wenling, Zhejiang Sheng, China

Oct 2015 - Dec 2015

Wenling, Zhejiang Sheng, China

In Wenling it's just a quite life. A good location if you need/want to disappear from the rest of the world...
Teacher at Wenling vocational and technical school Manager of a western pastry store
My mountain bike and riding to the coast through valleys and rocks and forests.
The Life in a Chinese province is usually boring. It's very difficult to find even simple stuff such as chicken or beef. Only pork wherever. I love pork, but too much is too much. The personal taste and uses of the people are extremely conservative. They love to speak about west and westerns, but nobody speaks English or knows what pizza is or how a cake should taste like (traditionally Chinese don't like sugary stuff, including sugar in the cakes). No wonder you can easily find cherry tomatoes on the cakes or Fried pork crumbs on sweet brioches. I didn't like the sea. It reminded to me the color of the water in the commercial harbor of Naples.

Istanbul, T眉rkiye

May 2014 - Jul 2014

Istanbul, T眉rkiye

Head chef at Metre pizza Italian restaurant. Head Chef at libert脿 Italian bistro
An amazing city, historically geographically and culturally. The food tradition is a little disappointing. It's not very rich as you could expect from a town born from the mix of Christianity and Islam layering their inheritance in this town through the centuries. I also liked the complex Turkish grammar
I didn't like the linguistic isolation. In Turkey you can speak only Turkish. Someone can understand Arabic or Russian. You chose which is simpler to speak for you :))))

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

May 2013 - Apr 2014

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Life is complicated for those who think to keep the same liberal habits as in Europe or America or parts of Asia
Chef in an Italian/French restaurant, in Jumeirah Lake Towers, then personal chef of a sheikh in AL Ain and head chef of his Italian restaurant "cocoa boutique".
I liked the modern environment, the futuristic cities. I learnt what the petrol can do to its owners. As Italian I've never seen so many Italian Supersport cars all together in my whole life in Italy. Dubai is like a wondeful postcard to send to the friends still in Italy saying "look at me! See where I live!", but this privilege has got too many collateral effects that a free bird like I am can't digest
I disliked the society of the Emirates and the total absence of social life. Where is a place where you can sit and chat with friends without being forced to enter a shop and paying for something so to sit? How I missed Kenya in UAE! How I missed the freedom of sitting wherever you want and... Sleep if you want to. That time I was with a Ugandan beautiful and tall girlfriend and I clearly remember I spent all my salaries as chef of a sheikh only for paying for hotels and sleep with her... With my own girlfriend! She was in fact not allowed to sleep in my house because we were not married. So we were forced to meet in hotels, some Hotels! The ones accepting not married couples! In other words for the first time in my life I had to pay for having sex with a woman and..... She was not even a prostitute. Conclusion of the story is that we were about to get married. We got so stressed by the environment that we split and later I even left Dubai because of this social discomfort. Oh, I want to state also that I'm atheist, so I don't care about what religion someone comes from, but, that someone can't force me to follow (indirectly ) the Ramadan during the period, because it's denied to eat down the street for them, or to drink or to smoke. If I'm no wrong in Italy a Muslim individual is not removed from the floor of an airport I'd they want to prey right there among the people, creating discomfort for the travellers. No one in the western world is not allowed to practice something (as long as it's legal) which is disturbing for the public opinion!

Thika, Nairobi Area, Kenya

Apr 2009 - May 2013

Thika, Nairobi Area, Kenya

I enjoyed my life surrounded by any kind of girls, and very few good men. Life in Africa is difficult and it's for the man kind as the life for the animals in the Savanah: the strongest, the smartest one or the one with more resources prevails.
Pastry chef at " ideal cakes" at the beginning. Then owner of my little stall, then owner of a small restaurant in Kasarani, close to the USIU American University, then owner of a much bigger restaurant still in the same location
Frankly? The women! A trip to Africa, any nation it's worth for at least two good reasons. In Africa you clearly understand your value as a man. The challenges are so many and so daily that you keep your will "fit", your strength, your skills, your patience are hardly tested every everyday. But.... But there is always a "butt"!!! In Africa wherever you are you'll find always a woman, or more, many more than one, who will make you understand clearly why you still don't want to leave that nation! :)) African women are just incomparable physically speaking. Simple and straightforward. Also the business can be good in Kenya and in Africa in general. I started my first shop in 2009 with no more than 500 euro and I got all the permits in few days. Kenya is for sure a perfect location where to go retired and feel the king or where to buy lands or build a villa and die for a heart attack under an amazing ebony goddess. Also the italian cuisine is very much known and appreciated I must say. It will sound strange what about to say if your read first what I dislike about Kenya, but I love Kenya, the Kenyans and their way to live as if there is never tomorrow. Go to Kenya and you lose the concept time and being in time. Live there and you'll need rehabilitation to live in a western nation again in your life. God bless Keny. At the moment of writing this, I live in China and God knows how I'd give whatever to have the job I have here simply there in Kenya.
Well, I didn't like the corruption, but that comes straight from the poverty. I didn't like the WY a white person is considered all a God, inheritance of the British colonization. But together with what I just said I should say also that the minimum level of civilization has been given to many African countries actually by colonies. Sad, clinical maybe, but close to the truth. I don't like of Kenya and of Africa, the mindset for which they think about today and live for today, it's very rare to find a woman who plans the right moment to have a kid for example, or to avoid to get pregnant when it's not the right moment in her life. This affects of course her financial situation and the men almost never marry a girl they made pregnant. To this add the high consumption of alcohol and you can understand easily why there's no way out from the poverty of some Kenyans getting more and more far from the rich Kenyans, owners of the whole nation.

Cebu City, Central Visayas, Philippines

Finding a job and finally leaving italy

Edinburgh, Scotland

Jun 2007 - Sept 2007

Edinburgh, Scotland

Worked as sous chef at d'Agosta italian restaurant Stirling
Sous chef
The locations of the movie Brave Heart, the scottish atmosphere you can breath down the streets. ..so difficult to describe...so...British! !! I liked to buy an x-box and to get acquainted with video games.i like to think that my career of chef started then during that summer.i enjoyed to see the sun light still there at 11:30 pm. Very strange experience. i enjoyed my jamaican girlfriend too;) she taught me the British say "Who goes black never comes back!".....for many many years after her it was still a rule for me!!!;))
I disliked to finish at the hospital one day that Sophia, my chocolate jamaican girlfriend decided to brush my eyes with a tooth brush while we were quarelling for how much she was used to smoke cigarettes. I also didn't like the closing time of the stores, at 6pm.the late afternoon is very boring in Scotland. ...for someone like me who doesn't like to drink.

Davao, Philippines

Davao, Philippines

Ioved the exotic fruits. I learnt how to play badminton. ..I spent some days left alone with my girlfriend on a desert island. I loved the halo halo and the crabs with coconut milk, the care care, the bicol express and...the adorable very long black hair of my filipina girlfriend moving like waves when making love

That was also the first time I ever ate indian food with hands served on banana leaves
The difficulty of finding a job, but that times I didn't speak english fluently
