My husband and I are living in Sarasota, Florida and considering retiring to Ecuador. We have read wonderful things about the country and just recently check the US government site and were alarmed. We are originally from New York City, lived in France for one year and traveled quite a bit and feel somewhat savvy regarding safety however we have concerns. Would like to get some input on others who have relocated. We are both educated with masters and have children and grandchildren. We are looking for peace and tranquility at this point in our lives. I will be retiring in February 2011 and my husband has been retired for several years now. We are planning a trip to Ecuador in September to get a feel for the country.
