About

Hello there! My name is Siobhán, but most of my friends call me Von which turned out to mean "hope" in Icelandic. Win. I am an American born Irish-citizen living in Reykjavík, Iceland. I traveled here three times in the space of one year in the company of others but in 2014 I made the decision to move here all by myself. Traveling alone is one of the most incredible human experiences. I feel like we are so often discouraged from doing so, but I'm glad I did.

I never watched TV since playing in the fields that spread for miles around my house had enough in them to fuel my imagination for decades. I am so very grateful for having lived there as a kid.

Hi, my name is Sam and I'm moving to iceland at the end of January 2015. Is there anything that people have learnt about Iceland since going there. Clothing, language, cultural differences that would be helpful to know. I'm from Australia.

Hey Sam! I just moved to Reykjavik in October of this year from NYC. Will you be moving to Reykjavik or elsewhere in Iceland? This information is really only relevant if you are living in Reykjavik :) Make sure you bring plenty of warm clothes to ... Read More
