About

I'm Italian. In 1995 I moved to LA, stayed for 3 and half years, worked as a translator, got married. In 1998 I moved to Copenhagen (Denmark) with my husband. In 1999 we moved to Switzerland, my husband's country of origin. We had two daughters, then moved to New York shortly after the birth of the second one. In the summer of 2009 we left new York, after 3 fantastic years, to return to Switzerland. I blog about expat life, travel and lifestyle at Globetrotting in Heels.
Interests: writing, socializing, fashion, books, blogs, health, shopping, nutrition

Switzerland is absolutely beautiful. It has the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. Also, as a resident you can enjoy good food, cleanliness in restaurants, shops, trains, etc as well as outside in the streets, excellent health care and the most efficient public transportation network in the world.
Natives are not always the frendliest. Shopping is kind of blah: no innovative fashion. Hard to find a good stylist (read: someone who won't give you 80s haircuts/highlights.)

Copenhagen, Denmark

Jul 1998 - Jan 1999

Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen is a fairly beautiful city.
It's very flat and windy and the wind picks up drops of water so you end up wet and cold no matter how bundled up you are.

Los Angeles, USA

Los Angeles, USA

What's not to like? Sunny and warm, lots of cool places to visit like Mann's Chinese Theater, Universal Studios, Hollywood Hills, Melrose, Santa Monica, Newport... lots to do and lots to see :-)
One word: earthquakes. Oh no, wait: the pizza is pretty awful, too.

What's the main language there by shoutit

If I'm going to work on IT in Zurich whats the most valuable language I should learn. I already speak english very well. My doubt is would it be german or french?

HipMom

Zurich is in the German-speaking part of Switzerland, and while those who dislike German as a language opt for a French course, it won't be much use to you if you live and work in Zurich. There are a variety of language schools in the Zurich area, ... Read More
