About

I am of Senegalese origin and I left my country in 2009 for Nigeria (Lagos) following an invitation for an interview. I will ultimately stay there for almost a year before crossing the border between Nigeria and Benin to find my sister with whom I stayed for almost another year, often returning to Nigeria. In June 2010, I embarked on another adventure in Ghana where I went to pursue studies in translation and communication. At the end of my studies I did a three-month internship in Burkina Faso where I had already spent almost three months of vacation with a friend. In summary, I have quite a varied experience of West Africa and I plan to continue it because I feel at home everywhere. Despite the little struggles that all expatriates have surely experienced, I learned that "we are all the same" and that African integration and unity depends on the attitude and will of everyone by overcoming linguistic and border barriers, as well as socio-cultural "myths". It is up to us, the youth, to make this effort of tolerance and acceptance of our dear 鈥渃ousins鈥 from other countries. My message is "We are one", a single 'piece of wood' can be easily broken, but a strong, united bundle can withstand even the finest blade.
