In 1974 I left Tahiti for the mainland where I worked for Comex which sent me across the planet to offshore oil sites. Then from Feb 1981 to Sept 2010 I worked as a consultant for oil operating companies. About 12 years in the UAE, 5 years in Thailand, quite a few years in Africa, Mexico, Norway... in New Caledonia since 2002, I have worked there since Oct 2010! Expatriation you say?
