About
Hello,
My name is C茅cile, I live in France and am of French origin.
My presence on this forum might seem out of place, but it is motivated by my job.
I am a children's author, I write books for children and adolescents (even young adults).
Currently, I am writing a novel aimed at adolescents whose main character flees Syria and after a 鈥渟tormy鈥 journey arrives in France.
I have been working for eight months on this character and his environment, I have read a lot about Syria, its past and recent history, but what I am looking for (and unable to find) is the way in which young Syrians (14-17 years old) live in Damascus (or in the south of the country). What do they think, feel, what is their daily life like? What do they have access to? (Internet, media, education...) Oddly enough, this is very difficult information to find... or, when you come across an article, very succinctly described.
I don't want to write a novel full of European clich茅s, I need to understand how a teenager lives in today's Syria to give body and spirit to my character, so that he is not only "credible", but above all "sincere"...
My objective is to write a book as close as possible to the reality of this young Syrian to alert French adolescent readers... to make them aware not only of Syria at war, but also more generally of worlds at war... and perhaps also in the hope of making the adults of tomorrow more tolerant and compassionate. All this without any pretension.
