In November 2012, I started my first blog, openmindedtraveler.com. Over time I fell in love, had a child and created another blog. I originally started out teaching English but now I am a Freelance Writer on both blogs which deal each with its own distinct niche.

It's a small city, not in the millions of people like Medellin or Bogota. And, there is a nice culinary scene for foodies, tons of camping and mountain adventures in the surrounding nature areas.
Doing business here is difficult. Many people are dishonorable in their business practices.

Salvador, Bahia, Brazil

I went to Brazil to try to build a life abroad in a beautiful place. Ultimately things didn't work out for the long-term and I returned to the US to regroup and try South American another day.
Beaches, Sun, Waterfalls and mostly happy friendly people. Carnaval was a blast!
Corruption, insecurity, the street people can be a bit tough, and they harass EVERYBODY, but especially expats and tourists. Couldn't really see myself there for the long-term. Salvador was too big for my tastes.

Reno, Nevada, USA

Reno is a GREAT destination for tourism. Several good museums, libraries and weekend festivals. The tourism scene is huge for extreme sports and of course legalized boxing, prostitution and gambling. Always new acts and concerts available for visitors. The best buffets in the USA.
No opportunities really exist now in Reno, even in tourism. Construction is dead. The most common job to find is working in a warehouse. And, too much winter.
