About

I was a homebody from Long Island, NY who broke free in order to reinvent myself through travel. I love wandering new cities without a plan, coffee shop-hopping, learning new languages, and ideally, spending more than just a month in each place so I can really get to know a culture, although I consider myself to have chronic travel bug. I have now been living in a small town near Brno in Czech Republic for nearly 3 years. Back then, Czech Republic was the 4th country outside of the US that I had visited, and I have now visited 18 total. I blog at Chlohemian about my experiences here as a traveler, teacher, and language learner. Visit this page to learn why Czech Republic!: https://chlohemian.wordpress.com/2016/12/03/why-are-you-really-here-part-2/

I second BeyondPrague - do not expect to survive at the Foreign Police without a translator if you don't speak much Czech. It may be possible, but don't expect it. It will be a struggle. :D Read More

I think Czechs respect foreigners a lot more who are willing to speak Czech. Even in the beginning when I would only say "Dobry den," "Na shledanou," and "Dekuji," they were so shocked they thought I was already fluent. ... Read More
