My expat journey

Taipei, Taiwan
Working as a business developer and learning Mandarin.
Business developer
Honest people, good infrastructure
High barrier to entry for Filipinos.

Manila, Metro Manila, Philippines
Had a happy life living with my girlfriend near our friends and family.
Transitioned from Electrical engineer to Business developer. Conducted market research on opening a business in the Philippines.
People are very warm, happy, and friendly. Widespread English speaking ability. Low cost of living. Good night life and Japanese, Korean, western cuisines.
Services can sometimes be unreliable and customer service is often a joke. Infrastructure needs improvement and government corruption makes social mobility difficult for Filipinos.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

I looked for jobs in Manila from Jan-May. Went to a few interviews, which were awful experiences, no job offers. Id say your chances are approaching zero. Say you do get a job at a call center. Are you willing to work the graveyard shift, ... Read More

An onward or return ticket is a requitement even if they do not check for it. If you dont have one, they have authority to send you back to your last point of departure. The cheapest legal option is to use a ticket rental. flyonward.com allows ... Read More
