About

Hi! I am living in Changsha, Hunan, for 10 months (hopefully). At the time of writing I am homesick, to the point where it is debilitating and every other thought is going home or shortening my time here. However I am interested in the massive culture differences and love my job (English Teaching), but I feel like there are some hurdles I cannot jump. I would love to hear from people experiencing the same thing and people who have experienced it and gotten over it. Despite what I have written, I am a fun loving, energetic young guy who is usually up for anything. It just seems coming here has sapped that and knocked me for six. And don't get me started on the internet.

Sorry for trying to keep the thread alive but I do really want to hear from people. What good experiences have you had in China? What should I be looking forward to? If you experienced homesickness and anxiety how did you move past it? I really ... Read More

Nah I'm here for the experience, I'll give it my best shot. If I can't hack it for 2 months then clearly it isn't for me and I can head home. Hopefully not though. 5 months I think is doable at the very least! Read More

So I typed out this really wordy reply that was amazing and summarised my points and questions perfectly. Then clicked to scroll up. Then accidentally hit backspace. I am an idiot. So I'll try to write a much more concise version: Thank you ... Read More

Hi Fred, I am trying, I've made some local friends and there are 3 other English teachers here so it should be impossible to feel lonely, especially with the home connection. But 1 English teacher is a lot older and has very little in common ... Read More
