My expat journey

Geneva, Switzerland
My partner is moving to Geneva Jan 16th 2010 for work and I will hopefully be joining him at some point during the year, until then I will be visiting regularly at least once a month.
Lady of Leisure... but also a student too so I guess that means I am not a lady of leisure anymore after all.
I am guessing I will like the scenery and the activities available as partner and I are both outdoorsy.
The cold! Hoping I will get used to it!

Lichfield, Staffordshire, England
Spending time with childhood friends, studying lots, yet again deciding on what I actually want to do. Wishing I was in Geneva with the boyfriend!!
Home learning student.
Same as the before. My friends, family, the town, the coffee houses.
Right now, how cold the sodding winter is!! Brrrr!!! Still nothing to do, BUT they are on about opening a shopping complex with a movie theatre and stuff.

Manama, Bahrain
I lived with my partner while he was working out there.
Lady of Leisure :)
Angel and Tasha! Getting my nails done on a thursday with Angel and going to starbucks every day almost. Lunch with the girls at Le Chocolat. Date nights with my partner on a tuesday at the Burlington Lounge in the Ritz Carlton. The malls!
The very very very hot summer! Ramadan (as it was during the aforementioned hot summer)! I liked pretty much everything else.

Lichfield, Staffordshire, England
Returned to my birthplace after Wales. Made friends, tried to decide what to do with my life, worked like a dog!
Customer Service Assistant
Scenery! My family, the town center, the cathedral! Cafe Nero!!!! Close to Birmingham. Ski slope in Tamworth, quite close.
No starbucks. Not much to do in Lichfield itself, no cinema, bowling alley etc.

Cwmbran, England
Moved out from home the first time. I was looking for independance and excitement!
Sales Assistant
Scenery, House of Fraser (where naturally all my wages went), my job.. I worked at QS clothing store and my boss was Wendy Davies (anyone know is she is still manager there) and she was the most fantastic boss ever!!! I loved how many gamers there are :D or maybe that was just my geeky friends.
Not a whole lot to do in Cwmbran. But close to newport and cardiff so can always get to excitement somehow!

Coming to Bahrain by KSD
I will be joining my husband in bahrain for 6 months starting in November. This may sound silly but what since I have been in the corporate world for the lsat 30 years I was wondering what kind of everyday clothes do you wear in Bahrain? Are jeans ...
In reference to the men (perhaps I should have mentioned) they do tend to honk in Bahrain if you are wearing a short sleeved top or tight fitted clothing or shorts. And I have heard from friends that frequent the bars in the hotels than sometimes ... Read More

Not at all. My partner and I have been made to feel very welcome by the local Bahrainis. I have also met women here from syria, jordan, and all over the middle-east and all have been very friendly. Read More
Dolphin Tours by NicoleB
I finally got around and made a small collage from our Dolphin tour trip The tour left close to the Al Dana resort. As far as I know there's one closer to the city center too.
I don't know it, no. I will get my other half to take me. We were planning on going to the one that they offer at marina club, or maybe it was coral beach club, but for some reason we never went :( men ay!?! Read More

Do and don't in Bahrain by expat.com
Are you living in Bahrain? We need you to share your experience of the local customs :) Is it difficult to adjust to the local customs in Bahrain? Could you please share with us a list of the do's and don't's in Bahrain? Thanks!
Bahrain is pretty westernised so customs aren't terribly important to take into consideration. If you slip up you won't be pulled up on it. When meeting Bahrainis or Saudis, men may shake hands, using their right hand (never shake hands with your ... Read More
