About

Hi, I am an Australian lady who moved to Yangshuo in February 2010 and I am teaching English at Omeida Language College. I am very happy living in Yangshuo and I enjoy teaching at Omeida. One of my hobbies is painting and recently I have put brush to canvas and I am interested in exhibiting my work for sale in XingPing soon. I also enjoy cooking and taking photos. For some reason I decided to take up knitting- Amazing as I have never knitted anything before now. However, I think its kind of theraputic to sit and knit when time permits and maybe I will turn my attempt into a rug. It surprised me that I actually remembered how to cast on and to even knit with plain stitch. It remains to be seen if I remember how to cast off. On a different note the last year was amazing. I traveled to many new places in China which included Shanghai, Suzhou, Yunnan Province and in particular, Dali, Shangrila and Liajing. My next big trip was to Beijing, Xian and then Shanghai and Suzhou for the second time. I hope to do more travel in China this year but havent decided on just where or when that will be.
Interests: photography, dancing, cooking, reading, painting, music, culture, architecture

The scenery is fantastic. The Karst Mountains make for magnificient views surrounding Yangshuo. The Li River is often a hive of activity with bamboo rafting leisure for visitors. The Yulong River is tranquil. Its easy to walk around Yangshuo. Its a manageable sized town and nice to return to after visiting a city.
Summers are extremely hot and winters (for me) are extremely cold. It would be nice if there was more public seating around town because it would be nice to just sit and people watch but you can only do that from a restaurant or if you go to Yangshuo Park. Oops...there is some seating near the Li River however more seating around town would be great. I walk everywhere because I dont ride a bike. Most people cycle. I would be happy if there were more western products in supermarkets and clothes to fit instead of there being very small sizes of clothing. Its not easy to find shoes to fit.

I lived in Yangshuo from 2010 to 2013. I exercised caution with my personal belongings such as the way I carried my handbag. Thats the same behavior I have in any crowded place anywhere around the world. Because many places are very crowded, ... Read More
