My expat journey

Atlanta, Georgia, USA
I was born in the US and have lived in 7 states in my lifetime -- so far.
Retired in 2015 from the corporate community relations field.
My family and friends, ease of movement across the country, some of the conveniences.
The current state of the country's politics and near abdication of its role as a global citizen.

Da Nang, 膼脿 N岷祅g, Vietnam
I chose to live in a Vietnamese neighborhood, rather than an expat community. I absolutely loved the experience, along with the frustrations that came with my struggles to learn and communicate in the language.
I volunteered as a discussion leader/facilitator at a local English cafe to which local young Vietnamese came to strengthen their English-speaking skills. I loved developing the presentations around interesting topics and facilitating interactive discussions, as well as encouraging public speaking among these bright, motivated young people.
Retired. Volunteer.
The people. The community-focused culture. The food. The beautiful scenery. Long walks along the local beaches on the East Vietnam Sea.
The oppressive heat-humidity combination, especially during the summer.
