My expat journey

Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
I lived in Vietnam for 5 years from 1966 to 1971 from the age of 12 to 17. So, I am returning to Saigon, to visit the homes I lived in, and to see the changes that have happened since 1971 and, maybe find some old friends. Also, look for a place to live out my retirement.
It has been a long time since I would travel the streets of Saigon and surrounding areas. Since arriving three weeks ago, it is very apparent that Saigon is not the same place I grew up in. All I can say is, Wow! Saigon has done a lot of growing up since my departure. In a way it is sad for me to see, but understandable.
The traffic is still hectic and it is still hot and humid, and the people are still as helpful and kind as I recall. I still speak very little Vietnamese, enough to help me get around. I can greet and ask the time, and I still know the number system. I did find a good App for translating that helps me with the big words.
Anyway, I am looking forward to exploring and getting to know the new Saigon and Vietnam.
