I was born in Laguna Beach California to California born parents. I was raised in Palm Springs California where the summer temperatures rises above 42C. I became accustom to extreme heat at a young age and learned to like it. Although I like warm weather, computers do not do well in heat and since when I was young I was interested in automation of anything to make life easier, I focused on computers and programming. I knew in high school I would go to school for Computer Science. I left home for college and never went back. Cooler weather suites me for computer work so I moved to Manhattan beach where I worked for a company called Tripple-i. They made the software and hardware that the first Tron movie was built and produce with. I caught internet fever, and took a job in Northern California working for Netscape. The weather was much cooler and rainy. Not my style as I was use to Southern California beach weather. Less hot than Palm Springs, but good for outdoor activity and wouldn't melt down your computer. I got hooked on the fast paced software development economy of Silicon Valley, plus started a family. I never went back to Southern California although I've always missed the weather and all year outdoor life. I've been chasing the technical unicorn for years, having hit major companies throughout my life in the valley (Netscape, Netflix, Microsoft, Amazon, and now Apple). I felt a career experience that I'm missing was working over sees. I took the opportunity to help start an offshore organization in Shanghai China. I went on to lean Mandarin, and manage a team in Shanghai for two years. It was an amazing experience I'd like to repeat, but this time do it in Bangkok Thailand. That experience lead me to want to do something for my son and give him a chance to go abroad for school for his 10th and 11th grade years of high school. I saw that the Thailand IT market was exploding, and it was chocked full of great international schools. I decided to target Thailand for an expat position in Software Management. It hasn't been easy locating the right role, but I believe that is a chance with persistence. The window of opportunity to enable this experience for my son is closing quickly though, so that is why I am expanding my reach to other forums in hopes of making contact with the right opportunity. In a nutshell, I believe in making the world a better place to active betterment in the way we live and work. I like to believe removing the mundane and repetitive is a way forward to improve life and create opportunity for all. It is the seed fueling my passion innovation. I derive my personal happiness and vocational prowess from paying it forward, and helping others to enjoy less friction in their lives through the automation that software provides in everyday life. It is also a vehicle of expression that I feel has no language, ethnic, or cultural boundary. Software and technology unite people and it is what I love about the industry, and the opportunity to work abroad. Why Thailand? The food, the people, the culture, and low stress life style. I could actually see myself retiring there.
