My expat journey

La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico
After my 9000 km motorcycle trip through Mexico, I finished in a small village near La Paz. Unpaved roads, hardly any tourism, I just love it. lots of little bays to visit and enjoy the beautiful sea and ocean views.
My road trip took me from Quintana Roo through Yucatan, Campeche, Chiapas, Oaxaca, Puebla, Tlaxcala, Veracruz, Morelos, State of Mexico, Queretaro, Guanajuato, Aguascalientes, Jalisco, Nayarit, Sinaloa, Sonora, Baja California and Baja California Sur.

Very quiet, no tourism.
Maybe a little too quiet? There aren't many roads.

Canc煤n, Quintana Roo, Mexico
Preparing for a motorcycle trip through Mexico, I moved to Playa del Carmen for a while, before returning to Cancun. I have visited nearly every village and city in the Yucatan peninsula.

I lived in the city of Cancun, not in the hotel zone. Same in Playa del Carmen, I lived in the city, not the tourist area. I liked the diversity of the landscape, the possibilities, and the city life in both locations.
Very crowded, especially in the tourist areas. And the tourist areas are insanely expensive. I came to Mexico from Italy and before that the Philippines, the prices drove me nuts, as did the scams with tips and miscalculated restaurant bills.

Siquijor, Central Visayas, Philippines
I am a nomad, I ride motorcycles in the countries I visit. In between trips I lived in the island of Siquijor.
My road trip took me over the Pan-Filipino Highway.
And through: Luzon, Samar, Leyte, Bohol, Cebu, Bantayan, Siquijor, Panay, Guimaras, Negros Occidental and Oriental, Boracay, Mindoro Oriental and Occidental.

The Philippines is a great country to travel on a motorcycle. And the island of Siquijor was a gem when I arrived the first time. Endless white desolated beaches, right at my doorstep.
The road rage. The open air karaoke day and night,
And the island of Siquijor became overcrowded due to the influx of Chinese investors and tourists.
Everybody on the island with as much as a toolshed put up a sign "room for rent". It became too crowded, beaches became Chinese private property......shame.....time to move on.
