Prov铆ncia de Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain

Since 2018

Prov铆ncia de Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain

Business Development Manager at a major translation company
The food, wine, lifestyle, beaches, mountains, activities - everything!
The separatist movement and anti-tourism wave makes me uncomfortable... Sometimes you feel awkward as a foreigner, but most people are really nice!

New York City, New York, USA

1996 - 2000

New York City, New York, USA

I lived in Manhattan and loved it! Greatest city on earth. Worked for the Swedish Foreign Ministry, was on the Board of SWEA New York, and studied at NYU. Had a blast!
I worked at the Consulate General of Sweden, as Executive Assistant and Social Secretary to the Consul General
Everything was spectacular!! Fun stores, hip bars, music, arts and cool restaurants.
Nothing!!

Miami Beach, Florida, USA

1993 - 1996

Miami Beach, Florida, USA

I went to lots of concerts, traveled, ate great food and enjoyed the rise of South Beach in its heyday
I did not work
Still involved in the music business with concert tickets, backstage passes and the nightlife was spectacular!! Also loved the rise of SoBe with funky atores, hip bars, music, arts and cool restaurants.
The poverty, huge social and economic gaps, violence... Also Miami's latin scene was very segregated, the latin communities didn't socialize or respect eath other...

Mexico City, Mexico

1989 - 1993

Mexico City, Mexico

I worked, went to lots of concerts, traveled, ate great food and some fabulous tequila reposado with sangrita!
I worked at the Swedish Embassy, and the Swedish Trade Council
Another epic era, got to know lots of cool Mexican bands, free concert tickets, backstage passes and the nightlife was spectacular!! Also loved the traditional food, music, arts and crafts, such fantastic folklore!!
The poverty, huge social and economic gaps, violence and corruption... It is such a great country with so many problems, it is very sad.

Madrid, Spain

1987 - 1989

Madrid, Spain

I worked, went to concerts and went out pretty much every night
Executive Assistant to the President of a multinational record company, RCA/Ariola = BMG Music.
Another epic era, lots of cool bands performed, free concert tickets, backstage passes and the nightlife was spectacular!!
Nothing! Had the time of my life!!

Torrevieja, Valencia, Spain

1985 - 1987

Torrevieja, Valencia, Spain

I worked at a real estate developer in the town, and translated/interpreted at the Notary Public and local police.
Receptionist and then Sales Assistant
It was a small town (fishing village) of 19000 inhabitants that exploded in summer, to 500,000. That era was epic, lots of fun people from Madrid invaded the town in summer and the nightlife was spectacular!!
Nothing - except for the drunken tourists whom I avoided

Sigtuna, Stockholm, Sweden

1980 - 1985

Sigtuna, Stockholm, Sweden

I went to high school, a private boarding school SHL / SSHL and then lived and worked in the town.
Student and office administrator
Sweden is a beautiful country, wirg scenic beauty and lovely architecture. Sigtuna is in my opinion one of the prettiest towns, with lots of ruins, a picturesque wooden town centre and great location on a lake.

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

1977 - 1980

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

I went to primary school and high school (grade 7-10)
Student
An amazing country, very special people and beautiful landscapes and beaches. Tough history, proud people and an amazing country!
At the time, being a foreigner at a public highschool was rough - they had derogatory nicknames for all nationalities. But as they had a soft spot for Abba, I lucked out! :)

Guelph, Ontario, Canada

1973 - 1976

Guelph, Ontario, Canada

I went to school
Student
People are super-friendly! All the neighbours came to introduce themselves and brought food the first week we moved in!
Nothing! I even loved the climate - snowy winters and hot summers!

Gent, Flanders, Belgium

1969 - 1972

Gent, Flanders, Belgium

I went to school, Kindergarten and 1st grade
Student
An amazingly beautiful city - the downtown is breathtaking.
Don't think there is anything!
