I am a teacher ready to retire but not there financially. I am caught up in the downward spiral of education in America. My decision is this.. do I look to teach out of state for one year and return to New Mexico so I qualify for "double dipping", or OR do I try CR for a year to see if I want to retire period? I have done alot of research, bought "learn to speak software", talked to someone who lived there for three years, and can't find any reason NOT to move there other than family, and a dog. I am considering becoming a part-time retiree, but am also conserned about stress on flying a dog twice a year to and from CR. Does anyone have advice on 1. Where is the best place to retire (close to the beach and good health care for two healthy 50-something people? 2. What are your experiences traveling with a dog(border collie)? 3. Has anyone driven from the state andd if so, do you recommend it, why and why not? 4. What can I REALLY expect to pay for a house within walking distance to the beach in a small quiet community? 5. What are the chances, my husband, a contractor/builder can make a living? 6. Would it be safe for a female expat to live alone?
