My expat journey

Tulln, Austria
I am an Au Pair for a family with two boys aged 8 and 9.
It's an enchanting small town, very Austrian and as I have always preferred small towns, I am naturally at home. Even though it only has a population of 15,000 there is a large shopping centre, plenty of cafes and restaurants, and of everyone i've met, they are friendly. Plus it's only 30 minutes on the train to Vienna.
I haven't had the chance to meet young people in the area.

Don Benito, Spain
I spent 8 months teaching children English and it taught me a lot of lessons.
I was an English Language Assistant and helped teach children English in a primary school and a high school.
I loved that it was a small town, it was easy to get around and everyone was friendly. It also had a wide variety of shops, entertainment and culture.
However, it was at least 4 hours by bus from any main cities (Madrid/Sevilla) and transport links were difficult.

D眉sseldorf, Germany
I was an Au Pair for a family with an 11 yr old daughter.
I lived 20 minutes from the city centre. The transport was fantastic (and went on until the early hours of the morning) and it was a beautiful city. I never felt crowded as there were plenty of open spaces, and it was easy to get around.

Aberystwyth, Wales
I study Spanish and German at the University.
Student.
Small town, friendly people, on the seaside, hardly ever rains. Beautiful.
Miles from anywhere (although this could be considered an advantage to some!).

Chorley, England
Born in York, moved to Chorley when I was 3.
I love the diversity of accents, I don't believe any other country has the same diversity. Also, the countryside. Chorley has good links to Manchester, Liverpool and other major towns nearby.
Chorley has too many Chavs.

Yeh, have a look. Some of them don't even need you to speak their language so you can learn while you're out there. I'm in Germany at the moment doing that. And that website was vetted by my University, it's really good :) Read More
