My expat journey

Alexandria, Egypt
My life was simple.I ventured out for new business. It was great getting to know a new place with not much crime but I was shocked at the poor people who slept in the roads.People are generally friendly and will help regarding directions and places to be.I found many friends. The only issue I found is that foreigners like single women are targeted for relationship material. My girlfriend who is naturally friendly came with me who set up in Cairo. She had many men who hassled her once they knew she was single and a foreigner. This ranged from taxi drivers as she used a private company to people who just befriended her.?Things are also not clearly explained at times and this is not due to the language barrier.Things such as where to pay your gas or at certain lodges that you need to switch the geyser on or resolving visa issues.

When my girlfriend and I eventually parted ways she was able to live with a local guy for a while as long as there is no doorman or your flat is not rented through a strict owner. As a foreigner she was also able to meet many people but she says that men eventually take advantage by living with you for an easy life or being able to get a visa to get out of the country. She says men are also very controlling and manipulative so my word is to be very careful as a single woman.
