Hi! I'm an Ecuadorian living in Ecuador....funny right? I moved to the States when I was 13, so I was an expat then, adjusted and learned to love the country. Always missed Ecuador, in part because of the big extended family I left here. Lived in FL for over a decade;then moved to NY for my Gemologist degree (I'm a precious stone/fine jewerly specialist)while working on my Marketing degree long distance. Met an Ecuadorian guy who had been living in Westester for quite a few years, fell in love and had a baby. We decided to move back to Ecuador so our baby would have the extended, close knit family experience we both had as children. We thought it would be easy to adjust, after all we were "coming home", but that was not exactly the case. I guess it is easier being a "gringo" coming to Ecuador since people expect you to be different, than being a "gringo wannabe" (to put in in a way) because that's something not very many people here understand. So, I'm looking for Americans (or any other expats)living in Quito because I'm in a home away from home too.
