About

Hi, I've moved here 2 year ago after spending the last 30 years in Mount Isa, Queensland so you can imagine what a culture shock this was for me. I'm with Kev, my partner for a few years now and we have been lucky enough to get jobs in our village. He works for Eggers & I work at the local Tesco store. We're finding the social structure so different. Just really want to find some easy going Aussies up for anything but just for company really.
Interests: camping, scotland, , reading, family history, walking

Auchinleck , Scotland

Auchinleck , Scotland

We picked this village to live in because I have come over to do my Family History and this is where my Scots link starts. Also being outback people we didn't want to live in the big smoke. This country life suits us.
I work at the local Tesco Store and Kevin works for ETC Engineering at the local wood chipping factory.
Auchinleck has proved to be a very good village because it is right on the Carlisle rail line and so has a direct link to Kilmarnock, Ayr and Glasgow. The bus services are just terrific. The village has 3 pubs and a large Tesco so what more could you want. Has a good chippy as well.
There is nothing about the village I don't like. The people here are very friendly and welcoming but the social structure of Aussies is missing so we don't get invited into other peoples homes and invites into ours are usually turned down. There is no just "popping in" around here. That's the only downside or maybe I haven't met the right people yet.
