Dear friends, I want to start a new life. I am 24 years old, recently graduated in Civil Engineering, Canals and Ports (MEng Civil Engineering) in Granada (Spain) and with a new project in my life: a great adventure. I already had an adventure with a student exchange program in Europe (Erasmus) and now I want to know South America. I have decided that Ecuador is going to be my new home, because next October 2011 I will move to live there. The purpose of the trip is to search and capture my first job as a Civil Engineer. I have already informed myself about what documentation I have to present for the issue of Visas, Homologation of the university degree and other paperwork, however, I still have no idea about all the administrative procedures that I have to do there. I thank you all for sharing your experiences, because the same doubts you raise are arising for me. For security reasons, I will move to live in the northern area of ​​Quito (as I have been able to inform myself) at first, until I get used to the city. I would like to ask you a couple of things that have been left in my mind: 1) In the first instance I will go as a tourist (<180 days) with my passport. I was recently in Jamaica and I just had to bring my passport without having to ask for a visa or anything; But in the USA they asked me for a tourist visa in addition to my passport, for which I had to pay. Here is it just showing up at the airport with your passport? 2) If I found a job there, how long would it take approximately from when I requested a Visa to be granted it? 3) If any of you have had your academic degree approved there, do you know how long it takes to give you the approval and how much it costs?
