I have been living in France for a while now and both my boys were born in Bordeaux. 4 and 2. I have a few English speaking friends already but its so nice especially for the children to get to know new people. My husband is FR from Paris. I know Bdx well so can advise. Might organise a big picnic soon at the parc bordelais if anyone interested.
