Hello, I work for a multinational with offices around the world, including one in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I work from the Montreal office and I would like to work 4 months every year from the employer's office in Sao Paulo, from January to April. This is a personal wish and not a requirement of the employer. I love my country, Canada. We are well there. There are two reasons why I want to live in another country, the first being my inner quest, and the second, I can't stand the winter cold. Here is what to consider in this case: 1- I would like to complete this project by January 2013 or even before; 2- I am a Canadian citizen, originally from Quebec; 3- I am in a relationship with a Brazilian woman. We don't live together but plan to; 4- My Brazilian girlfriend has been a Canadian citizen for 25 years; 5- I would live with my girlfriend and work in Brazil from January to April; 6- I would live with my girlfriend and work from Canada from May to December; 7- I will assume all travel expenses etc. ; no costs to the employer; 8- The salary would be the same, paid by the employer in the Montreal office and paid into my bank account in Canada; 9- I am 41 years old, in excellent health; 10- I speak French, English and master Spanish. I am learning Portuguese. In summary, the only difference is working from the Sao Paulo office instead of the Montreal office. Here are my questions: 1- Can you give me the resources (government, organizations, internet links, etc.), allowing me to know the steps to take to complete this project? 2- Are there any agreements for this type of scenario between Brazil & Canada? 3- What are the implications that the Montreal employer must consider? 4- We are not planning to get married but could this help? 5- Who can direct me on the feasibility & challenges of such a personal project? 6- I propose a scenario. However, are there other possible scenarios allowing me to make this project a reality? Basically, I want to live in Brazil with my Brazilian boyfriend from January to May and work there.
