I'm from Mayotte and I've been living in mainland France for a few months, believe me it's not for pleasure. At 5, with 1000 euros in MAYOTTE, my purchasing power had been reduced to nothing, the cost of living in Mayotte, a real motherfucker. The Mahorais are being fooled by trade under the pretext that everything is imported, but that doesn't explain everything. Apart from that, MAYOTTE is beautiful, authentic and above all it is a mini-Africa, French and proud of it. We are no less safe than in the mainland except that it is small, the slightest attack or theft against white people quickly echoes; and yet the Mahorais are also victims. I am not against the expatriate bonus system but it has very negative sides. When I say this, it is against certain people who come to Mayotte only for financial gain and who spend their day criticizing the natives that they speak their language all the time and that they speak their language badly, then that everything is dirty, that people have too many children. It surprises me that by coming to an island of African customs, these people expect to find the 6th arrondissement of Paris. The message: accept that the Mahorais are different and they will accept you. You will always be welcome if you have good intentions. Learn to know yourself to better respect yourself. Mayotte needs everyone. Thank you to all the expatriates who bring something more to Mayotte without denigrating the Mahorais.
