About

I鈥檓 a freelance writer and copy editor specialising in writing for the web. I also work part-time as an English language teacher, a career I chose so that I could indulge my passion for travel. Originally from the UK, I鈥檝e lived in several countries over the years including Spain, Tanzania and Venezuela and travelled to many others. I have finally put down roots in central Portugal where I live in a tiny village with my husband and dog but that hasn鈥檛 dampened my enthusiasm for travel. When I鈥檓 at home, I love reading about other times, cultures and places and developing my interest and skills in photography and writing. I鈥檝e been living in Portugal since 2007 and whilst I鈥檝e done a lot during my time here, there鈥檚 always so much more to discover and experience. My blog, Julie Dawn Fox in Portugal (www.juliedawnfox.com) is a way for me to share my experiences of Portugal with you in a way that you will hopefully find entertaining, interesting, informative and inspiring. If you're interested in hiring me to write for you or to help with something you've written, please email me on julie@juliedawnfox.com with details and we鈥檒l take it from there.

Hi Rosie, I agree completely with what Piglet has said about work and the difficulties in finding employment here. Even if you were fluent in Portuguese, you would find it difficult to earn what you might consider to be a living wage. Average ... Read More
