Teaching in Jakarta and travelling around Malaysia and Thailand during our holidays.

The people of Java, Indonesia. Possibly the most genuine, trustworthy, generous, likeable, empathetic and fun people I have ever met. Wish the rest of the world was the same.
Too far from family in the UK, other than that you quickly get used to the rats, floods, regular diarrhoea, and ant infestation, and try to avoid getting dengue.

Milan, Italy

My second time living in Italy.
Teaching
The food of course, the art galleries and museums, unusual secret churches, Il Duomo, Parco Venezia, the canal markets, the happy hour (s) which are unique to Milan where you get great free food all along the bars at this time between around 6 to 8.
Dirty buildings, pricey restaurants in the city so you need to hunt around, heavy rains in September and a few pompous Milanese.

Corfu, Greece

Over many years I have lived in and visited Corfu on and off (mostly off). Most recently living in my very little village house on Corfu Island.
Various including local tour guide.
The simple life, the great food, the beautiful beaches and sea, and Corfu Town in general which is just lovely.
The damp in winter, the lack of work in winter, the fact that everyone goes back to the mainland in winter.
