About

I'm entering a phase in my life in which I find my physical, social and spiritual priorities and interests shifting. My passions are varied, thankfully, and my desire to explore a new way of life is fronted by my discontent with the North American capitalistic, consumer-driven, socially entitled landscape. I'm seeking a deeper, more purpose driven lifestyle for myself and my wife & young daughter. We wish to lay our own bricks and pave our way to a new life on our terms.
Interests: socialising, business and adventure, designing/natural building, culinary, health & excercise,

I live 44 miles E. of Los Angeles. I enjoy my time with my wife and daughter, age 3. We spend much time together when I'm not at work. We enjoy long hikes/walking in our semi-rural area. I love running! We go to Farmers Markets in the area to support our farmers. We also enjoy visiting our friends and open doors to family a lot. I build clay (adobe, cob) ovens.
Entertaiment Industry, Medical on film sets.
I enjoy the weather, safety of my neighborhood and the ease of getting around town. My daughter is enrolled in a wonderful preschool that is not Corporate owned. Moderately friendly, outgoing people in my area and many great dining spots and activities for just about.anyone.
It is very smoggy in the summer months, LOTS of traffic! Rude drivers. Very removed from nature, concrete jungle. Expensive housing. Do not like USA in general.

Question: Why did you leave North America, and why pick Uy? by James57

Hi folks. I've read most of the posts in this forum and I'm just wondering why those folks who pick up and relocate are leaving North America 'these days', and in particular why they decide on Uy. I'm in my late 50's, a businessman, and a fairly ...
