About

I am a poet, writer, and fine art photographer. Originally from Portland, Oregon, I've lived many places, including New York City, Okinawa, and San Diego, before returning to the Northwest, making Seattle my home. During the decades I worked as a psychotherapist, I also became passionate about photography. I studied with Canadian photographer Freeman Patterson and John Daido Loori Roshi, Zen Abbot of Zen Mountain Monastery and past student of Minor White. I led Creative Vision workshops for photographers in Seattle, in Canada, and in the Southwest. After retiring from my therapy practice, I earned an MFA in Creative Writing/Poetry from Antioch Los Angeles and moved to Anacortes, Washington, where I currently live with my photographer husband. I'm also grandmother to 7 granddaughters! For years after traveling to France we dreamed of living there. But recently my husband was notified of his Canadian citizenship, so now we're looking at relocating to Canada to be closer to our children.
Interests: cooking, writing/poetry, , eating, all the arts, fine art photography

R. Nestor, I'm eager to see what you learn. My husband and I are already retired, but our dream is to live out how ever many years we have left in South France. Our research, so far, has led us to be hopeful. The one problem we haven't solved is ... Read More

Health Insurance by kathyaa

We have been looking at health insurance to cover us as Medicare will not while residing in another country. Would be very interested in hearing from others who have retired to France regarding a good company to go with. Thanks

Thanks for asking this question. My husband and I are also pondering this issue. The lack of information makes our transition to France more difficult. I'll look forward to what others have to say. Read More
