About

Im from England ,the first time I came to Brazil was with a friend,we travelled for 9 months in South America and it was a great experience. I loved every place that we went to but most of all Brazil. When I finally got back to England I promised to myself that I would return one day, well it took me six years to get back! I almost didnt return thinking that at 33 i should find a decent job and settle down, however I saved up for one last adventure and off I went! I arrived in Florianopolis and found a cheap place to rent for a few months,id had 8 months of portuguese lessons from a Brazilian girl that lives in a neighbouring town so I managed to get by(although I realised I still had alot to learn!) Anyway I met a girl at a BBQ and before i knew it we were living together. I stayed in Brazil a year and a half (illegally tut tut) and I tried to bring my girlfriend to England, unfortunately she was sent back to Brazil at Heathrow airport!!! this was a heartbreaker for both of us. I could only return to Brazil with a student visa and that took 4 months! Anyway I got back to Florianopolis and married my girlfriend, I have been back for more than a year and I now have my work card but im still waiting for permanent residency. Im working as an assistant to a carpenter . I wanted to teach english here but it doesnt pay well. Im thinking of leaving Brazil and heading to china to teach english as it would pay alot more than I earn here. It is very complicated trying to get my wife to england and it would cost a fortune!! Im hoping to chat toany english or Brazilians in China.

Any Brits in Brazil? by melbevitorio

Would love to hear from any fellow Brit expats, even if you are at the other end of the country! I've been living in Brazil for almost three years now and have yet to meet a single one! Would love to read your blogs if you have any, too. I live in ...
