About
I'm a single African American female who is in the process of rediscovering myself and all that it entails. I have pretty much always been a creature of habit and change comes through a reluctant process for me. I'm at a stage in my life that requires that I throw myself into the abyss of my aspirations and finally reach for the GOLDEN RING. I'm a CLOSET Writer who is finally ready at this late stage in my life to be belly up to the table of possible rejection and become a PUBLISHED AUTHOR who actually makes a living at what fills my heart with joy.
Up until now I've made my living in the business/administrative field. After working for the largest advertising firm in the world for almost 14 years as an Office & Facilities Manager for three of their SF offices I was laid off along with 300 others in 2005. I have yet to secure a permanent and fulfilling position since and in this economy I've painfully come to the realization that if I'm going to be broke then the next phase of my life MUST be filled with a new adventure and definitely one that will be fulfilling to my spirit, soul and to the woman that I'm constantly trying to create within myself.
I have the rare blessing of a 25+ year plus friendship with another female that is so much like myself that she has become the sister that my mother never had but that God sent to me. She is Kenyan by birth and also lives in the US. For years we pictured ourselves growing old together and reading aloud. We both LOVE a good book (smile). This friend will soon, within the next year, be moving back home for good to Kenya and has invited me to come and see what treasures may await me and my talents in Kenya.
I'm giving it SERIOUS thought but am reluctant to go so far from family and the cultural differences that I may encounter there make me reluctant yet I am dreamy eyed with the possibilities. If I remain in the US and am able to find another permanent job I fear that I will continue to merely exist but that if I make this FANTASTIC move that I may grow as an individual as never before.
I have met most of her family as she has mine before here in the US and we are so in love with one another. My friend and her brother tease me that if I were to move to Kenya I'd find husband #2 who would treat me as the Nubian Queen that I am (LOL). NO, that is not my purpose for possibly relocating but must admit that at some LATER point it would be wonderful to find someone to share the remainder of my life.
P.S. Did I mention that I do not speak Swahili or Kikuyu (smile).
