Hoi An, Vietnam
I volunteer as an English teacher to several private students, and one school that uses English speakers as assistants to the teachers. The they teach the grammar, we teach the pronunciation and the idiom.
Retired
Slow pace of life. Nice people, great beaches, and enough tourists and ex-pats to have a chat with.
I didn't know it would be so cold in the winter. I didn't like the humidity in September and October.
There is a dire lack of facilities such as live music. Ordinary consumer goods that I am used to buying in a supermarket don't exist. They include duct tape, cheeses, PVA glue and hat elastic.

If you want to do some really good work, look up Carry For Kids Vietnam on the internet. They will take all sorts of things for orphans and you can get clothes cheap or free at a Goodwill shop. Better than chocolate and trinkets. Read More
