Hello! My name is Mathilde, I'm 25 years old and I've been living in London for a year and a half now. I left Paris after obtaining my master's degree in fashion marketing; and it was essential for me to have a good level of English to continue in this environment. I always wanted to be an au pair; and I found that it was the best way for me to deepen the language. So I left for London; I found a great family. I stayed with them for almost a year while working in a charity shop a few hours a week. I then found a job in my sector at the luxury store Selfridges; a permanent contract. I left this position this month to return to France for a while. I love London, I'm now fluent; this very international city has a lot to offer and is much more relaxed than Paris. However, I didn't find the desire to stay there any longer; I have very good friends and I love this culture but the cost of living and the very long distances make it difficult to settle down long term for me. My next step would probably be to go back to the Netherlands.
