Hi! I'm Jeannette and I'm currently studying French and German at university in the UK. As part of my degree I'm spending a year abroad, with the aim of speaking and practising the languages as much as possible. For the first 8 months of this year and a bit, I'll be in Guadeloupe. I'm currently living on La D茅sirade, a small island off the coast of the mainland, but after 4 months here I'll be off to Basse-Terre. I have work placements on both islands, so am busy throughout the week, with afternoons and occasional weekends off to go and explore.

I live in Deshaies, and it's pretty safe (crime wise), but the roads are quite poorly lit and windy, so wear bright colours/bring reflective armbands/torches. I don't know that much about accomodation, but it's quite a touristy place so I think ... Read More
