About

I am a media owner in the United States and a Knight International Fellow assigned to the African Media Initiative (AMI). I am leading a multi-country project to improve business management practices at media organizations in Africa. My activities at AMI include supporting media organizations in Africa with the impending analogue to digital television migration. Before entering the broadcast arena, I was a Global Webmaster for Dell Computer. While still at Dell, I purchased several radio stations in Texas. I was named Texas Broadcaster of the Year in 2007 by the Texas Association of Broadcasters. Before Dell, I was Director of Marketing for Motown Records. His experiences in the broadcasting and music industries, technology, journalism, desktop publishing and web design make him an excellent resource for learning how to take advantage of the new media landscape. I published two books last year: "Victory Every Day," a book of photographs of my travels accompanied by poems and "Ten Tips for Managing the Migration to Digital Television." I enjoy travel, music, food and meeting good people.

Learning Swahili made a BIG difference in my experience as an expat. I am African American and I moved to Nairobi in 2011. When I found out I would be moving I bought a Swahili book which also had a CD in it. I converted the CD to mp3s so I could ... Read More
