Took care of U.S. ex-pats back-to-the-landers co- op settlement up on a plateau in the interior of British Columbia for that winter when they got tired of taking their kids to school by snowmobile. There was four feet of snow at a steady 20 degrees below zero for the winter. We had to haul water from a stream on sleds, heat and cook with wood. Light with kerosene and candles. We milked and cared for goats. Very interesting winter! Don't want to do it again.
Midwife to goats. Caretaker to homes, cats, goats and rabbits.
Total silence and the beauty of a forest bent over with four feet of snow.
two chimney fires in the A-frame with no hope of outside help putting out a fire. It is fortunately easy to put it out. A-frames have crossbars to climb to pour water down the chimney.
