After the independence of Algeria I evolved variously in France and in the French Overseas Territories before settling in Tahiti, where I bought an apartment and in New Caledonia where I invested massively in real estate. (28 apartments, 2 seaside villas) Without regret, the rental returns are high (I only buy from the seaside) No unpaid bills, and low taxation. On the other hand, in Tahiti my apartment, which had been rented to teachers for 10 years, has currently been without a tenant for 3 years due to the crisis which is hitting Polynesia hard. I am considering selling, because there are property and municipal taxes.
