About
My name is Ryan Harrison and I鈥檓 a British ex-pat living in France since 1996. I speak fluent French and am married to a French woman and have 3 bilingual children. I work in language training and I鈥檓 passionate about the French language and culture. I don鈥檛 believe that learning a language is all about the vocabulary or the grammar. I believe it鈥檚 a much more global experience and you need to appreciate all the finer things about France to really enjoy the language learning experience. There is the culture, the people, the food, the landscapes, the countryside, and so much more.
I wanted to start this blog because I believe in honesty. A lot of people say 鈥淐ome to France, it鈥檚 great鈥 and they deliberately mask all of the difficult things about it: the bureaucracy, the apparent coldness of the French, the difficulty in making money. I want to say that France is great, but you have to put in the hard yards to learn the language and appreciate the culture.
