About

I am a sociologist and I was born in Ecuador. I have dual nationality, Chilean and Ecuadorian. I lived almost 32 years in Chile and returned in 2013 to a country that was both the same and different from the one I left. I lived in Chile for many more years than I lived in Ecuador and because of what I have experienced, the experiences and the codes acquired, I feel more from there than from here; However, at the same time I don't feel like I belong anywhere, which neither bothers me nor affects me, but rather gives me an incredible ability, which I even admire, to adapt to any place and culture. Those who stayed and have never lived abroad do not understand it well, or so it seems, and from their experiences and routines, they do not perceive those changes or the fact that the perception of things is different. Making friends is something difficult, especially if you are old in age, you do not know where to find people who share interests, who understand that life is much simpler, and that even so you cannot be oblivious to what happens in the environment or in the contingent and that you cannot be indifferent to the circumstances nor can you stop getting involved in issues that have to do with your vision of the world. It is like that, whether you are there or not, but without losing the critical vision of things.
