My expat journey

Barcelona, Spain

Since Mar 2015

Barcelona, Spain

After the Milan period I found in Barcelona the city in which I truly see myself living in Europe. I plan to do a master's degree but the main thing is to make my life here
Collaborating with the opening of the marketing department of a company but actively looking for a better opportunity.
Almost everything. You want the beach (you have it), you want the mountains (you have it), you want parties (you have it), football (you have it), friendly people (you have it) in short a city that you never get bored of.
So far, so good. It may be the subway in summer, which is a nightmare, or the issue of Catalan for some jobs, but it is enough to learn it and adapt to where you are moving.

Milan, Italy

Learning the language mainly by having Italian nationality, I always wanted to use it at a high level as well as immerse myself in the culture of my family.
The food is excellent, typical of Italy, although in Milan it is not like in Rome or Naples, but in the end you are in Italy. Public transportation from the Bus, Tram, Metro is very organized and it is not necessary (mandatory) to have a vehicle to survive the city. Also if you use the bicycle it is a very friendly city for cyclists and pedestrians. The number of nationalities with which you live are: Russian, Spanish, Mexican, Venezuelan, Colombian, Dutch, French, German, Japanese and Chinese. In short, it is a city that, due to its fame in fashion and design, has a constant movement of young people and people open to seeking fun. It is a very safe, clean and organized city (of course, let's take into account that we are talking about an Italian city). It is the city with the highest quality of life, job growth and updating of the areas. Shares a balance between ruins and advanced city. In Milan you will always find concerts, sports shows (Calcio and Basket) as well as plays, theaters and any event that is fashionable worldwide. If it happens in Italy, it goes through Milan.
For a city as renowned as Milan, it does not have as much to offer for how expensive it is. If we compare it with cities like Madrid, Paris, Munich, Barcelona or Rome itself, it is a bit indebted. The metro closes around 12:30 and although it is true it opens a night route M1 M2 M3, the ease of getting around on weekends is not the same. The nightlife is not so good and the bars and clubs usually close early. Food is not its strong point if we compare it with other Italian areas. For an Italian city, its people are a little less friendly and collaborative than in the rest of the country. It is difficult to enter the circle of a Milanese even having nationality.

Learn English for the Toefl, work and live my first experience of spending a period outside of Venezuela
The ease of adapting and finding a group of friends with whom to share your experience and enjoy everyday life in the city. The beaches and the proximity to different cities in Florida mean that something is always invented on the weekends. The variety of nationalities means that you get to know cultures and languages, it helps you open your mind and live a true experience that is difficult to forget.
It is not a main city so there is no nightlife like in Orlando, Tampa or Miami. You will find more elderly people than young people.
