@salimah16: please take my advise of shipping vehicles to Morocco as I talking from experience. You will get slaughtered on the import tariff. In 2019 my wife and I shipped our things to Morocco which included a 2016 sonata. It cost us $6800 usd which was more than what I bought it for from the US plus cost to ship it to Oman. If the vehicle is an American vehicle, made by an American car company and is less than 1 month old then you will escape  the import tariff otherwise don't do it. It is suicidal. Maersk is a good company to use for shipping.  Now if you are married to a Moroccan man/woman and you both are living together in the US and have decided to move to Moroccan with your belongings make sure to go to the Moroccan embassy and provide them with a list of your belongings. They will forego the import tariff on the entire container including your vehicle. If you don't do that you will get slaughtered.

all you need in Morocco is lots of money. make sure you take lots of it if you want to have an European lifestyle. Imported car or electrical goods are highly taxed in Morocco and the government is stopping people bringing secondhand good to Morocco now. Good luck.

Thank you so much for the great advise. Yes my husband is Moroccan, so this will help. What are some items you wish you could have brought with you? And what are some items you wish you didn't spend the money to bring there. Also if you have kids, was it better to do online American schools, private Moroccan. Or public. I am considering Online American but not sure if I should just put them in a local public school. They are 13,11, &7 and only speak English, so do I. Also as an American is it easy to get a good paying job, I am a nurse but I don't speak anything but English. Thank you

I feel like, I am seeing that too you have to buy everything if you are renting a non furnished  apartment. A stove, washer, refrigerator, cabinets, closets, shelves,. Have you found any good deals on these products or can you tell me what are good prices to look for?

if you are a Moroccan ( or you partner ) and want to permanently move back to morocco you need to inform the moroccan consulate lat and ask for a form that fill up with the goods that you intent to take back you with they need to stamp for you and show to customs on arrival for the goods to be allowed in without paying taxes on them. This could include anything from furniture,  bikes ,cars, ….things that you will normally use in the  USA. Please contact the Moroccan consulate or embassy for more information on this.

@salimah16: As noted in my previous response to you without a get-out-jail-free pass from the Moroccan embassy in the USA you will be slaughtered. Absolutely every and anything will be hit at a super high import tax rate. I didn't come directly from the US. I did a short 2-yr and 3-yr stints in Jamaica and Sultanate of Oman respectively before coming to Morocco in 2019.  I wasn't aware of the get-out-of-jail-free pass so I got clobbered on everything I had (solar panels, solar lights, light bulbs, car etc) (double taxation) . They charged $1000 usd just to test one light bulb to see if they all conformed with local requirements (well, that's what they say). Long story short, bring nothing more than what you need or else......As for your children, you have got the right idea, online education with a US institution and forget about work unless you are able to hook up with a western/European company looking for a healthcare type person like yourself. @jahfrank you are wrong on a few things! if yiu wete not planing to keep the car in morocco yiu shouldnt have to oay any costoms!there is whats called temporary import and its free. the second thing, yes if your are returning definitively to morocco as a Moroccan yes your belongings are exempt from those taxes, but not you car!  Cheers

@Penniewisellc: I don't believe so. In my case I was living with my Moroccan wife in the Sultanate of Oman and we were returning together. Everything was shipped in her name so she was the Moroccan citizen listed as the owner of everything and as the returning citizen / resident. Your case is special and I am not qualified to comment on how best to handle your situation to avoid the tariffs on your belongings. Considering that your wife was not living with you in the country you are moving from it would be somewhat difficult to put your belongings in your her name as the rightful owner to avoid the tariffs.

@Mustaphaaffan: You are indeed correct that there is no tariff if you are bringing the vehicle in temporarily for personal use (no more that six months). If the car remains after that then the tariff sledge hammer is lowered on you. There is a special situation where you are exempted from the tariff and that is if the car is from the USA and cannot be more than one month old ( free trade agreement with USA).
