Please know that not all Moroccan men are like this. Many of us hold marriage as a sacred bond, built on love, trust, and loyalty. Please don’t let this experience change your view of Moroccan people entirely. Many Moroccan men are deeply devoted to their families and work hard to build happy, stable homes. I know it’s tough right now, but there are people out there who genuinely value and respect marriage and would appreciate a partner as committed as you.

Married for 6 months, been in the UK for 4 weeks, ran away supposedly to go and work offshore. He is a commercial diver. Now I discovered every lie from his half sister, it's my fault. He has been desperate to sign into his UK immigration account. I have notified the home office. So many genuine couples are struggling. Sad part is I really love him. I am looking for ways to move onn daily.

@ancillamcpherson Easy to blame yourself but this a betrayal that runs deeper than finances (although be sure to guard those!). Playing with peoples lives is cruel and please don’t think there was anything about you personally that could have been different - he clearly had a plan regardless.

Has the immigration office let you know if theres any recourse re: his visa etc..? Can you annul the marriage?

@ancillamcphersonI completely understand how you feel; it’s completely normal to feel heartbroken and disappointed after such an experience. One person’s actions should never define an entire nation or culture, but I can see how hard it is to separate that when you've been hurt so deeply.

There are good men out there who value and cherish their partners. Right now, focus on taking care of yourself and healing. You deserve happiness, respect, and genuine love – don’t let one person's actions make you lose faith in that. If you need  simply want a friend to listen, I’m here for you. Are you able to stop his visa or immigration? I thought it takes longer than that to process so you should be early enough to end it. Sorry this happened to you. It’s going to hurt for a while but you are strong.

@Andre Petion another one bites the dust. I am sorry to hear and I guess yours would be the same story as majority of us from abroad it’s either money or the visa! Hope you get sorted and haven’t lost a lot for whatever that maybe.

@Muzzichuzzi My situation wasn’t terrible, but I ended up being more like a bank for that person—it was always "give me, give me" with no respect for me. I realize now that I blamed myself for it. I should have set boundaries from the start, but by the time I tried to establish rules, it was already too late.

My experience has been much different. We have been married 11 years now. He has been in the US with me for 9 of those years. We have issues,  like anyone but, I never doubt there is love and commitment. I would love to hear more positive stories. I know I'm not the only one!

     It is understandable that people want to get out of a bad situation but, at the expense of some one else is so wrong. Be careful out there, look for any wierd signs and don't just jump in.

Visa cancelled.  Good riddance

I've been with my partner for 8 years but recently found some paperwork that says he has a spouse and the document was authorized in Tangier. How do I find out if he is already married and has been lying to me?

@sarahkatelefeaux Take pics of the documents and show him to see his reaction. If he claims to be divorced ask for proof. It is not uncommon for both Moroccan men & women to have a spouse/bf/gf in Morocco while carrying on a full life elsewhere…and denying it.

Hoping it’s not that, but best to be sure!

Hi i am new here..i would like to have an idea about my problems that couse my health problem and depression.i was married woth Moroccan man   since 2022 and we are in long-distance relationship he lives in Morocco and i live in france but 2 months ago i feel that he change a little bit he just call me when the time that he going to sleep and when i ask him he is angry then this October 11 he dont call me and his phone was off so October twelve i try to call him still his phone is off some friends is really worried about me and they try to contact him but still not working then they ask if there is other number to call so they take the number of his mother because i was really o fall down on the floor because too much depression..the he is very angry becz he said i gave the number of his mother but i dont have any choice its emergency situation.after that je call me i dont have time to answer him after that je just leave a message that i will give you a good lesson to give the number of my mother.the je block me after other day i bought other number then i say to him that he dont know what happen to me and i beg to dont block me yes je dont block me but untill now he dont call i try to call him je don't answer even friends he dont answer and he block everybody.even his mother...i hope guys you can help ke about this problem because i lost a lot already of weight and im panic most of the time

I got married this year. After being together for 4 weeks, she asked for a divorce since she refused to take her responsibilities as a wife and constantly played silly games with my mind. I did my homework, but with marriage, nothing is guaranteed. I provided her with a nice, fully furnished home. She came from a good family, but the girl showed me her dark side after I signed the papers. I don't think she was after money; she just didn't want to take any responsibility as a wife. I work in a tough environment, but she didn't appreciate all the hard work I did for her, especially regarding the Moroccan marriage process. Furthermore, in Morocco, a girl can simply divorce herself without a reason in the court. I went to the court, and I told the judge that I lost a lot of money in this process plus multiple times on traveling, but in the end, he said, "Sorry, I cannot help you. We will give you 2 months for reconciliation; if you can't sort your issues, then she has the right to divorce herself," meaning I will not get compensate for my loss. The marriage paperwork will only help the girl, not you. Please, fellas, read about it before you commit to a long-term relationship in Morocco. I honestly went through a tough time with this girl, but in the end, I walked away with a heavy financial loss.

I am sorry to hear your story, please look after your wellbeing and forget about it. Morocco does not have a good repetition when it comes to marriage, you need to find someone who is known to your circle.
